Josi and Joana, 8 and 9 years

My name is Josephine and I have orthotic braces on my ankles for walking because I have a type of cerebral palsy which causes spasms. I also have difficulty with balance. For longer distances I have to use a wheelchair, but I can walk short distances on my own.

When my doctor asked me if I would like to try golf training I didn’t know if I could do it. But I tried it and liked it from the very first day of training. When I get tired, I can sit down and rest on my fold up chair.

Now, since my best friend Joana is also training with me in the KidSwing group, I don’t want to miss a single day. She isn’t handicapped, but she can also play in our group and help us out.

There are nine handicapped kids in the Berlin group and three others, including Joana, who are not. We all like to play together and we had our first special tournament in October. We played five holes on a golf course near Berlin and each got a certificate for our first time. I was very proud. During the winter, we will train indoors every other week, but I can’t wait to play on a real golf course again next summer.
